Hidden Treasure (Tbilisi, Georgia)

I returned to Georgia for the second time, this time on my wedding day. Yay! On the next blog, I’ll tell you about my wedding day. Today I’ll tell you about our travel after the wedding. And speaking of Georgia, here’s one of the most beautiful sites you may not have discovered yet. We drove 4 hours from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda to see the Kazbegi-twins. It’s directly beneath the Gergety Trinity Church.

Kazbegi - Twins

The most beautiful and breath taking view. The temperature was -5F when we arrived, so it was a little cold. The location is ideal for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and our host was really accommodating and prompt in responding to our inquiries. We stayed for four days and three nights, and cost us $235.39 to be exact. You will find almost everything inside the cabin, it’s full equipped. There are a few restaurants and grocery stores nearby where you can acquire some supplies, not very cheap but reasonable price but I recommend that you bring everything you need with you because they close quite early. Below this post is the attach link of the cottage and location for your reference.

There is a place behind the cottage where you may relax and barbecue. Also, be wary of the local dogs, but don't worry, they're really nice & friendly. We met three of them, but one of them was a little territorial since he only wants him to be friends with us lol. We got him dog food, but it doesn't seem to be enough for him because he is large, like really huge. Late at night, he will sit outside the gate and guard us as if we owned him, but I think someone does own him and he lives close because he disappear on the next morning.

The place is literally 37 min drive away from Vladikavkaz, Russia boarder and 1 hr 22 min if you will take a bus. If you decide to take a bus you have to drive 11min from Stepantsminda to Verkhni Lars border point Dzheyrakh, and from there you will take a bus to Vladikavkaz, Russia for 1 hr and 11min. But we didn’t cross the border to Russia as we don’t have much time and we didn’t plan for it. On your way to the place, you will encounter a long queue of trucks, like a lot of them. I came up to know that these trucks are waiting for days to get a ticket with a number that secure their spot to enter. The lines sometimes stretch all the way to Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi.
